Dare Souther Felts

Mrs. Dare Souther Felts, age 91, of North Wilkesboro entered the arms of our Heavenly Father on April 2, 2021. She was born on March 4, 1930 in Wilkes County.

Dare was a loving mother, grandmother, and caregiver to several family members and friends over the years. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved her wonderful church family, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Dare and family sincerely appreciate all the love and support she received throughout her illness. A special thank you to caregiver Janice Souther and primary caregivers Faith Davis & Amanda Ellis; all the Home Instead CNA’s/staff; Emily Laws with CAPS; PruittHealth Hospice nurses/staff (primary nurse Rhonda); Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church family & Pastor Randy Campbell; and Dr. Laura Hubbard, long-time physician.

Dare was preceeded in death by her husband, Eugene Felts; father & mother William Henry Souther and Dorinda Moore Souther; sisters Blanche Hager, Geraldine Wagner, Eula Mae Speece; brothers Rev. J.C. Souther, Garwood Souther, Gaither Souther; her son Kim Felts and grandson Erik Dowell.

Dare is survived by one brother Vernon Souther (Carolyn) of Albemarle; three daughters, Gail Felts Alexander (Philip) of Roaring River, Kay Felts Minton (Mike) of Millers Creek, Crystal Felts Brinegar (Chuck) of North Wilkesboro; and daughter-in-law Linda Billings Felts of Olin; grandchildren are Michelle Felts Ellis (Chris) of Advance, Jonathan Felts (Gretchen) of Burnsville, Mark Alexander (fiancé Ginger Whitley) of Roaring River, Adam Minton (Casey) of Mooresville, Whitney Brown (Cody) of North Wilkesboro; great-grandchildren Dylan Osborne, Landyn, Sydney & Jackson Ellis, Opal Felts, Beckam & Barrett Minton, Sadie & Cora Brown; and two great-great grandchildren, Connor & Sophia Osborne; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Statesville Road, North Wilkesboro with Rev. Randy Campbell officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, c/o NIR, P O Box 40, Union Grove, NC 28689.
