Dale Russell Craven

Mr. Dale R Craven age 66 of Millers Creek passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with Rev. David Welborn officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church. 

Dale was born Jan.23, 1959 in Wilkes County to Jester Levaughn Craven (Pete) and Nancy Bumgarner Craven. Dale was owner and operator of Exterior Concepts Lawn Specialists. 

Dale was preceded in death by his parents: Pete and Nancy Craven; his niece Dallas Nancy Craven; and a loyal friend, Ms. Susan Whittington.

Dale is survived by one brother Eric Craven and wife Christine of Ferguson; one uncle Ron Jones and wife Betty of Charlotte; two nephews Landon Craven and wife Sarah Beth of Mebane, NC; Jake Craven and wife Amye of Ferguson. Dale is also survived by his lifelong partner Sandra Elkins (Sandy) of Millers Creek and her family Bonnie Elkins of Lousiville KY, Joe Elkins and wife Pam of Harlan KY and many nieces and nephews. 

Dale was an avid car enthusiast and proud of his first car that he purchased at the age of 14 and still owned, the 1970 GTO “The Judge”.  Dale also collected motorcycles. Dale enjoyed riding his Harley especially with his brother, Eric and friends. Dale loved his farm, horses especially Apache; and his man-cave. Dale enjoyed spending time with Sandy in her gardens. Dale never met a stranger. He loved talking and spending time with friends over breakfast. Dale was always willing to help others. Many would often ask him to solve issues whether it was mechanical, electrical or carpentry. Dale was unique in his skills and loved to share them. Dale was loved and cherished by many friends and family.
