Courtney La’Shae Saner, transitioned into the eternal arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 6th, 2025 at the age of 39 years old. She was born in Wilkes County to Edward G. Saner, Sr. and Denise Williams Saner on July 28, 1985. As an infant, Courtney’s parents dedicated her to The Lord.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Matt Sherman officiating.  Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Courtney attended Wilkes Central High School where she was awarded NCHSAA Scholar Athlete for basketball and softball. Courtney was academically gifted as she excelled throughout her high school and college years. When she was a rising senior, she was elected for Project Uplift which highlighted the top four black students with the highest GPA. She was a National Honor Society Graduate and North Carolina Scholar in 2003. After completing high school, Courtney went on to further her education at Lenior-Rhyne University in Hickory N.C., where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine in 2008. 

Courtney became an avid drummer a few years ago. After her brother, Bud passed away, her admiration for him caused her to want to carry on his passion to play the drums. She enjoyed playing them to the glory of God. Sha-Baby also loved to grill out and feed her family, which she did often with a huge smile. Courtney was the family comedian and always had a joke to tell. 

Courtney was preceded in death by her father, Edward G. Saner, Sr., her brother, Edward G. (Bud) Saner, Jr., one brother/cousin, Johnny Perry (P. J.) Waugh, and one sister/cousin, Arnette Green. 

Courtney leaves to cherish her precious memories to her mother, Denise Williams Saner of Wilkesboro, NC, her aunts, Emma Fox, Mary Davenport, Eva Watts (Thomas), Evelyn Waugh (Johnny), Arnita Horton (Joseph), Rene Shade, Tonya Dula, Dora Vaught, uncles, James David Williams, Joe Williams, Jr. Courtney’s sister/cousins include Sherry Felton, Gemika Steele (Timothy), Michelle Vaught, Sharon Carlton (Brian), Valerie Bailey, Sonya Burns, Monica Williams, LaShunda Williams. Courtney’s brother/cousins are Billy Joe Vaught and Adrian Watts, her special friends are her Uncle Michael Corpening and Laquanta Baxter. A host of loving relatives and friends will always remember Courtney, along with her fur baby, Abigail, affectionately called Abby-Cakes.
