Mr. Colon Wade Barker, CW Barker, age 82, entered his heavenly home on November 13, 2025, just two days shy of his 83rd birthday. Born on November 15, 1942, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, CW lived a life marked by faith, dedication, and steadfast love for his family and community.

CW was the son of the late Colon Harp Barker and Lovie Jolly Barker, and the brother of the late Ronnie Barker. He is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda Dancy Barker, his beloved son Brian Wade Barker, and treasured grandchildren Alexandra Nicole Barker and Gabriel Andrew Barker, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne Barker (Zedena), Benny Barker (and his friend Agnes Brown), and Richard Barker (Kay); his sister Shannon Mask (Benny); and several nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. A God-loving man, Colon devoted his life to serving the Lord and others. He was a former member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Liberty Grove Baptist Church, and later continued his ministry as a member and deacon at Westview Baptist Church. His faith was the guiding force of his life, evident in his kindness, humility, and unwavering compassion.

CW was committed to public service. He served on the Wilkes County School Board for eight years and on the Wilkes Regional Medical Center Hospital Board for nine years, always striving to improve the lives of those in his community. He worked for 46 years at West-Point Stevens in Elkin, North Carolina, where he retired after a long and dedicated career. A lifelong resident of Hays, North Carolina, CW and Glenda moved to Deland, Florida in 2019 to be closer to family. CW’s legacy is one of faith, service, and love—a legacy that will live on in all who were blessed to know him.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM December 13, 2025, in Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Glenn Dancy III and Pastor David Sparks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
