Claudius Absher Obituary
Mr. Claudius Odell Absher, age 89 of McGrady passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at Rose Glen Manor.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Van Lankford officiating. Burial will be in Pine View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. Absher was born August 9, 1931 in Wilkes County to Ochus Odell and Della Rhoades Absher. After graduating from high school he spent four years in the United States Air Force before entering Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Upon college graduation he began his 30 year career of teaching in the Wilkes County School System. He was a member of Pine View Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters; Doris Absher Sebastian and Sue Absher Cashion.
He is survived by his wife; Peggy Brewer Absher, a daughter; Jenny Absher Collins and husband Bart of Suwanee, GA, a brother; Richard Absher and wife Ann of Wilkesboro and grandchildren; Salem Collins and Alexandra Collins.
