Mr. Clarence Allen Winkler, Sr., age 84 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist – Winston-Salem.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Mountain Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Vannoy and Rev. Lyn Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Clarence was born July 10, 1941, in Caldwell County to Raymond Arthur and Mary Lucille Swanson Winkler. He sold insurance for 42 years and served his community as a club officer with Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Club for 53 years. He served as an adult and youth Sunday School teacher, choir member, and led Senior Adult Ministry with Mountain Valley Baptist Church. He loved to play golf and watch the Atlanta Braves, but his biggest love in life was spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Winkler Ellis.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hilda Craig Warren Winkler, of the home; sons, Clarence Allen Winkler, Jr. (Renee) of Wilkesboro, and Brian Keith Winkler (Connie) of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Dr. Corey Allen Winkler of Charlotte, Brandon Keith Winkler and Hannah Lee Winkler, both of North Wilkesboro; and several nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
