Charles Douglas Poteat

Mr. Charles Douglas Poteat, age 79 of Hickory passed away June 14,2022 at his home in Hickory.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday June 24, 2022, at Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. The Inurnment will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends after the services at the Mausoleum.

Charles was born March 25, 1943, in Wilkes County to Coy Reason and Maude Lawrence Poteat. Charles had a long career in the Textile Industry and traveled all over the world. He volunteered for Carolina Caring Hospice by working at the Hospice Thrift Store in Catawba County during his retirement years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Lewis Dean Poteat.

He is survived by one daughter; Sandra Poteat Thompson and husband Jock of Foothill Ranch, CA; one sister; Jane Phillips and husband Tommy of Wilkesboro; two brothers; Thomas Philmore Poteat and wife Mary B. of Willington, Coy Edward Poteat and wife Wanda of Statesville, and his long time friends Eric Livingston of Davidson and Jamie Icard of Valdese and many nieces and nephews.
