Carrie Lee Pennington Johnson

Mrs. Carrie Lee Pennington Johnson, age 90 of North Wilkesboro passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation Center. 

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Tharpe officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church. 

Carrie was born August 24, 1932 in Wilkes County to Davie and Martha Church Pennington. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; John Iredell Johnson, three sisters; Mable Pennington Owens, Lillie Mae Halsey, Loretta “Dollie” Pennington Redmond, four brothers; John Ralph Pennington, Junior Ross Pennington, George Robert Pennington and Lester Lee “Hank” Pennington. 

She is survived by a son; James Edward (Joyce) Johnson of Wilkesboro, a daughter; Teresa Johnson (William) Bowers of Hays, three grandchildren; Jaime Johnson (Troy) Pedersen of Greenville, SC, John Claude Bowers of Hays, Cynthia Augusta Bowers (Liam) Early of Matthews and one great grandchild; Alasdair Cillian Early of Matthews.
