Mr. Carley Seldon Welborn Jr., age 89 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation Center North Wilkesboro.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 16th at 1:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, at 270 Armory Road, North Wilkesboro with Rev. Joe Sturgill and Mr. Chad Spurlin Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM-12:45 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Private Burial will be in Moravian Falls Cemetery.
Carley Seldon Welborn Jr. was born August 31, 1935, to Reverend Carley Seldon Welborn Sr. and Cary Potts Welborn.
He was born in Surry County but lived most of his life in Wilkes County where he attended Wilkes Central High School and served in the National Guard.
He went on to become a successful businessman, managing a Winn Dixie supermarket and then McDonald’s, which he became the owner and operator of in Newberry South Carolina.
Carley was a member of Moravian Falls Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth Pharr Welborn and his most recent wife Shirley Jarvis Welborn also a daughter Laura Reid and granddaughter Ruth Elizabeth Reid.
He is survived by his brothers, T.A. Welborn, Wayne Welborn, and Kenneth (Kenny) Welborn and daughters Rebecca Truett, Donna Poe, and son Howard Welborn, and stepdaughter Vicki Combs.
Carly had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
