Mr. Calvin Nicks, age 88 of North Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Brier Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Blevins officiating.  The casket will be placed in the church at 1:30 PM.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Calvin was born August 11, 1936, in Surry County to Luther Howard and Virginia Lee Eads Nicks.  He was a member of Brier Creek Baptist Church and was employed by Holly Farms/Tyson Foods for 48 plus years and raised chickens for Holly Farms.   

In Calvin’s earlier years he enjoyed riding his Harleys with his friends.  He loved going on vacation with his wife and family.  He enjoyed riding four wheelers in West Virginia and Kentucky with friends and his grandsons.  Calvin spent many years supporting his grandsons at dirt bike races.  He was a very hardworking man and made sure his family was always taken care of.  Above all, Calvin loved his wife and family more than anything. 

Calvin was married for 69 years to the love of his life, Wilma.  He loved his family so much and he was a very independent man and loved working on his old cars.  More than anything he had a great bond with his two grandkids riding ATV’s and exploring the outdoors. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Doris Lee Draughn.

He is survived by his wife; Wilma St. John Nicks, a daughter; Tammy Nicks Vannoy and husband Chal of North Wilkesboro, a son; Calvin Michael Nicks of North Wilkesboro, two grandsons; Clint Roten and wife Amanda, Cody Roten and wife Hannah, three great grandchildren; DeLacey Hamilton, Terence Hamilton, Caroline Roten and a great-great granddaughter on the way and a sister; Ruth King of Boonville.
