Callie Clonch Obituary

Callie Mae Anderson Clonch, also known lovingly as Polly and Kitten, loved by five generations of family, journeyed through a well-lived life spanning 92 years. She passed peacefully at her home on August 8, 2025.

Born in Premier, West Virginia on June 13, 1933, Callie was the daughter of Lee Roy Anderson and Mabel Ratliff Anderson, and one of three children. On March 9, 1949, she met the love of her life, Bruce at Flint Hill Baptist Church - the same church where they would worship side by side for decades. Having wed on June 17, 1950, they spent over 70 years together in the home they built together – a home that became the heart of countless family memories. Together, they went on to have four children: Sandy, Audrey, Larry, and Tim.

Over the years, Callie hosted countless family gatherings, filling her home with laughter, good food, and lasting memories. For decades, her hillside home echoed with the laughter of generations of children running, hiding, playing tag, and hunting Easter eggs. A woman of deep faith lifelong perseverance, and a quick sense of humor, she will be remembered for her steadfast support of family and friends and her readiness to help when needed. Her door was always open, offering a safe haven to anyone who needed shelter and comfort.

In addition to her husband, Callie was preceded in death by her brother Robert “Pete” Anderson, daughter Sandy Borders and granddaughter Diane Walker. She is survived by a large extended family including her three children, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren – each of whom knew her as “Nanny,” a name spoken with love and affection across generations. While time and life brought changes and distance within the family, her love remained a constant and unifying presence, holding space for everyone with support and care.

She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Charlie, who will miss her comforting presence.

Private services will be held.
