Mr. Burley “Sam” Hampton Pruitt, age 85 of Traphill passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Pruitt was born February 25, 1935 in Wilkes County to Paul M. and Dona Richardson Pruitt. Sam was well loved by all, always smiling and laughing. Like his brother John A. he loved cars, was a big fan of NASCAR and he enjoyed fly fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; John A. Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife; Easteen Baugess Pruitt of the home, they were married on June 21, 1955, and were together for 64 years, two daughters; Wanda Cleary and husband Richard of Hays, Elizabeth Comer and boyfriend; Stacey Parker of Thomasville, one son; Curtis Pruitt and girlfriend; Tracie Sheets of Traphill, one grandchild; Autumn Brooks and husband Tyler of Conover and two great grandchildren; Garrett and Callum Brooks and sister-in-law; Shirley Pruitt of Traphill.

The family requests no memorials or flowers.
