Mr. Bryant Thomas Yates, age 83 of Purlear, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Purlear Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie McGuire, Rev. Hadley Triplett, Kent Shumate, and Rev. John T. Vannoy, III, officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. 

Mr. Yates was born March 25, 1942, in Caldwell County to Jesse and Shirley Matherly Yates.  He retired from Yates Oil.  He was a member of Purlear Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member.  Bryant loved any kind of music and loved to dance.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Cooper Yates; a daughter, Janessa Yates; a son, David Yates, and a sister-in-law, Teresa Yates.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Adams Yates; a grandson, Jared Yates; and a brother, Mike Yates.
