Bobby Dean Watson

Mr. Bobby Dean Watson, age 86 of Purlear passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Friendly Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brett Graham and Rev. Michael Golden officiating.  Burial will be in Yellow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Friendly Grove Baptist Church. 

Bob was born July 29, 1936 in Wilkes County to Olin McKinley and Madie Welch Watson.  Bob loved to work and farm, he was an outdoorsman and a sports enthusiast.  He talked to people about history, loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a woodworker, a church goer and loved going to gospel singings.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Ina Pearl Stroud, Gaye Ashley, Joyce Watson and four brothers; Edgar Watson, Ernest Watson, O.M. Watson and Rex Watson. 

He is survived by his wife; Betty Dancy Kennedy Watson of the home, two daughters; Bethany Oller, Sabrina (Terry) Byers all of Purlear, a son; Gregory Robert (Rhonda) Watson of St. Louis, MO, six grandchildren; Zachary (Samatha) Oller, Kassie Oller (Ben) Streeter, Kemper Watson, Banning Watson, Kaden Byers, Kase Byers, two great grandchildren; Garrett Oller and Carter Bell.
