Billy Joe Greer

Mr. Billy Joe Greer, age 91 of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 27, 2023 at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek with Pastor Trent Craven and Rev. Mike Church officiating.   Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church.

Billy Joe was born July 28, 1931 in Wilkes County to Joseph Fredrick and Ruby Lee Eller Greer.  He was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church.  Billy Joe was extremely proud of and loved all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was a devoted family man who was also very dedicated to his elders.  He retired at the age of 79 after driving for 55 years as a long distance truck driver with Bumgarner Services, Holly Farms and Wilco Transportation.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Clara Ruth Reeves Greer.

He is survived by two daughters, Clara Jo Greer of Wilkesboro, Diane Childress and husband Johnny of Millers Creek; a son, Charles Alan Greer and wife Lea Ann of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Stuart Earp and wife Lori, of Hamptonville, Julia Greer and Samuel Greer both of Greensboro; two great grandchildren, Kaylee Earp of Hays and Taylor Earp Booher and husband Trever of North Wilkesboro.
