Mrs. Betty Shepherd Lyall, age 77, widow of Everette Lyall, Jr. of Millers Creek passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Arbor Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Susan Pillsbury-Taylor officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 AM. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Betty was born July 17, 1946, in Wilkes County to Larkin Hackett and Della Blanche Pierce Shepherd. Betty met Junior Lyall in high school when she was captain of the West Wilkes High School cheerleading squad. Junior was a member of the football team. They married in 1966. She retired from Lowe’s Companies. They were owners of Cookies-N-Cream in the Wilkes Mall and Lyall Harley-Davidson. Betty was an active member, loved singing in the choir and held other various positions at Arbor Grove Methodist Church in Purlear.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Everette Lyall, Jr., two sisters; Dorothy Blanche Eller and Esther Shepherd Eller.
She is survived by two sons; Dr. Gregory Lyall and wife Mandy of Clemmons and Kevin Lyall of Winston-Salem, a grandson; Pierce Lyall and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arbor Grove Methodist Church, c/o Lindsay Eller, 590 Shepherd River Road, Millers Creek, NC 28651.
