Betty Ann Frizzell

Betty Frizzell passed away on January 1, 2025 at the age of 90. Betty was born on April 20, 1934 to John and Bertha Barnett. She was the oldest of five siblings. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1952. She started her career working for the Federal Government soon after graduation and worked in different capacities for 40+ years.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 2 PM at Donaldson Funeral Home in Laurel, MD.  A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Ferguson with Rev. Joey Moore officiating.

Betty is preceded in death by her daughter Vyvyan Frizzell McCaffery, her brother, George Barnett and his wife Melba Barnett. In addition, a brother-in-law Otis McNeil.  Betty is survived by her one grandson, Forest McCaffery and a great-grand daughter Caroline McCaffery three younger sisters: Joyce Ball (Orlando, FL), Kathleen Wilson (Durham, NC), and Kate McNeil (King, NC). Betty is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Betty loved her church and was a member for 51 years at First Baptist Church of Laurel, MD. She attended Sunday school and worship services regularly, and participated weekly in crocheting blankets for newborn babies at the church as part of the Linus Group. She also volunteered as part of an English as a second language program through the Church.  She was an avid reader of the Bible and mystery novels. She loved flowers and spending time working in her yard. She also enjoyed completing jig-saw puzzles. Betty was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Vyvyan, until her death in September 2024.

Her family wants to give special thanks to two devoted friends, Cheryl Hippie and Ko Klaver, who helped her immensely during the past year and a half while she was in assisted living.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends!
