Betty Campbell Obituary

Mrs. Betty Lou Mathis Campbell, age 91 passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation.            

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Hamptonville with Rev. Kenny Pardue officiating.  There will be a public viewing in the church from 10:00 until 10:45 PM prior to the graveside service. 

Mrs. Campbell was born July 19, 1929 in Wilkes County to Comie and Mettie Somers Mathis.  She was a member of Union Baptist church in Hamptonville. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Hoover Campbell, two sisters; Dorothy Howard and Ettie Mathis, three brothers; Blaine Mathis, Robert Mathis and Charles Mathis, a niece; Patty Poplin four nephews-in-law Tom Bumgarner, Tom Honeycutt, Vernon Poplin and Claude Roberts. 

She is survived by six nieces; LuAnn Johnson and husband Reggie of North Wilkesboro Karen Bumgarner of Wilkesboro, Dottie Cline and husband Wayne of Statesville, Lutricia Sale of East Bend, Donna Milsaps and husband Jerry of Hamptonville and Carol Roberts of Hamptonville, and sister-in-law; Patty Mathis of North Wilkesboro, great niece; Debbie Macy and husband Wade of North Wilkesboro and a special nephew; Oakly Wittkamper and several other great nieces and nephews. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
