Bernice (Hayes) Thompson

Mrs. Bernice Hayes Thompson, age 101, of Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Billy Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.  

Bernice was born September 25, 1924, in Wilkes County to Robert Lee and Maudie Baugess Hayes. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Lewis Edward Thompson, son; Lewis Edward Thompson, Jr, one sister, and five brothers. 

She is survived by three daughters; Shelia Thompson Brown of North Wilkesboro, Kathy Thompson Scott, Carol Jean Thompson Bell (Lehman) of Braselton Georgia, one son; Jerry Allen Thompson (Brenda) of North Wilkesboro, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
