Mrs. Bernice Joines Bumgarner, age 91 of Millers Creek, wife of J. Zollie Bumgarner passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.
An outdoor Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Union Baptist Church in Wilbar with Rev. Steve Faw and Rev. Julius Blevins officiating. The body can be viewed Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and at Union Baptist Church on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service.
She was born in the Wilbar community of Wilkes County on April 24, 1929 to J.M. “Dock” and Vetra Parsons Joines. She was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church and she retired from Vanity Fair (formerly Modern Globe) with many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother; David Joines.
She is survived by her husband J. Zollie Bumgarner of the home, a daughter; Nancy B. Watson of North Wilkesboro, three sons; Michael W. Bumgarner and wife Pattie of Millers Creek, Hubert Bumgarner of the home, Harold Bumgarner and wife Karen of Millers Creek, two sisters; Louise J. Bumgarner and husband Burl of Millers Creek, Marjorie J. Lankford and husband Bill of Lincolnton, two brothers; Robert Joines and wife Lorene of Millers Creek and James Joines and wife Drucilla of North Wilkesboro, sisters-in-law; Linda J. Joines and Faye B. Johnson, six grandchildren; Cathy Huffman Huie and husband Mark of Purlear, Chris Huffman of Millers Creek, Charlie Huffman and wife Tracy of Wilkesboro, Cory Huffman and wife Brandi of North Wilkesboro, Sarah Bumgarner Junker and husband Chris of Pfafftown and David Bumgarner and wife Shannon of Kingsport, TN, nine great grandchildren; Angela Huie, Gavin Huffman and fiancée Emily Sprinkle, Devin Huie, Kelsie Huffman, Chase Huffman, Karlie Huffman, Isaiah Huffman, Benjamin Junker, Natalya Huffman and young men; Logan and Brayden Hall.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joel Swofford and staff of Medical Associates of Wilkes, the staff of Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation, and friends for their love, prayers and support.
The family requests that everyone attending the service wear a mask and social distancing protocols will be in place.
