Barbara Thomas (Dobbins) Brown

Mrs. Barbara Ann Thomas Dobbins Brown, age 77, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 29, 2024 at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. James Ferguson and Rev. Casey Walker officiating.  Burial will be in Mtn. Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

She was born on December 11, 1946 to Charlie Philmore “Phil” and Grace Miller Thomas.  She was preceded in death by her father, husbands; Herbert Brown and Carl L. Dobbins, a son: Warren Vance Dobbins and a brother: Charlie Phil Thomas, Jr. 

Rejoicing in her memory are a daughter: Sabrina Renee Dobbins; her mother; Grace Miller Thomas, grandsons: Kevin Stuart (Adriann) Dobbins, Phillip Dobbins and fiancé Kaela and Sydne Dobbins; great granddaughters: Leila Dobbins and Cierra Myers; her sister: Wanda Thomas (James) Heggie, uncles: Joseph Thomas and Dennis Thomas, an aunt: Virginia Miller, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and a host of classmates and friends. 

Barbara graduated from the former Lincoln Heights High School and Wilkes Community College where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Her last employment was a Britthaven Nursing Center.  Previously she was employed at Wilkes Regional Medical Center and several doctor’s offices. 

She professed faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro.  A very kind-hearted lady, Barbara enjoyed needlework.  You can see her handiwork of cross stitch portraits in her home as well as many others.  She also enjoyed painting and working in her flowers.
