Mrs. Artie Sue Horton Barnes, age 89 of North Wilkesboro passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at her home.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Ronald Howell, Rev. Willie Jackson, and Rev. Roosevelt Calton officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Friday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Artie was born January 21, 1933 in Wilkes County to Bynum and Hettie Parsons Horton. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Moravian Falls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; Daphne Horton Barnes and husband Harrison, two brothers; Rayford Horton and Clifford Horton, two sons-in-law; Kendall Wilson and Robert Carlton.
She is survived by her husband; Paul Gwyn Barnes Sr. of the home, six daughters; Suzanne B. Lester and husband Errol of Athens Georgia , Carol B. Wilson of Wilkesboro, Betty B. Gyant and husband Ben of North Wilkesboro, Paulette B. Hoke and husband Richard of North Wilkesboro, Bonnie B. Carlton of Charlotte, Salicia B. Ceron of North Wilkesboro, one son; Paul Barnes Jr. of North Wilkesboro, a sister; Lona Belle Horton of North Wilkesboro, nine grandchildren; Natasha Waller, Errol S. Lester, Talon J. Brown, Brandon Carlton, Terrence Brown, Kristie Barnes, Devin Lineberger, Ashley Baker and Kendra Wilson, twenty three great-grandchildren; Trey Lester, Tyler Shultz, Zariya Brown, Talon J. Brown Jr., Peyton Carlton, Madison Carlton, Jordyn Lester, Taylor Carlton, Zayden Barnes, Xavian Carlton, Londyn Lester, Justus Brown, Kamdon Carlton, Justice Waller, Kendall Jenkins, Kenyon Abdullah, Kennadi Abdullah, Johnny Waller Jr., Javon Lineberger, Charlee Rose Lineberger, Braceyn Baker, Kyson Baker, Mayson Baker and a host of nieces and nephews.
