Mr. Arnold Carl Ellison, age 85 of Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.
Private services will be held.
Mr. Ellison was born, July 7, 1936 in Mercer County, WVA to Carl Robert and Sadie Emily Tilley Ellison. Mr. Ellison (aka Honey, Pop, Dad, ACE, Paw-Paw, Sonny, Uncle Paw-Paw, Ellie and Gus Jenkins) loved spending time with family and friends. He loved watching his grandson play sports. He was an avid reader and a WWI and WWII history buff. He enjoyed watching old movies, enjoyed a joke and making people laugh. He loved riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
After service in Germany in the Army Chemical Corps in the mid-1950’s, he had a series of jobs before a twenty-year career in computer programming, systems analysis, and information management for Blue Bell in Greensboro. He retired in 1986.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Daphne Ellison Falkenstein; and one brother, Gerald Ellison.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha (Marty) Cates Ellison, of the home; one daughter, Pattie Ellison Black, and husband, Matthew of Wilkesboro; one son, Bryan Craig Ellison, and husband, Michael Durgin of Frankfurt, Germany; one grandson, Robert “Bobby” Ellison Black of Wilkesboro; and several family members who loved him greatly.
