Mrs. Annie Ruth Greene Hamby, age 87 of Ferguson, widow of Jack Hamby, died Friday, July 10, 2020 at her home and went to be with her Lord and Savior. She will be remembered as a very sweet lady and a loving mother to many.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Mountain View Baptist Church in Deep Gap with Rev. Mike Barfoot and Rev. Roy Kanupp.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hamby was born February 20, 1933 in Watauga County to Esau Labor and Grace Evelyn Nichols Greene. She retired from Kings Creek Manufacturing as a seamstress.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jennifer Hamby and Justin Hamby; four sisters, Vinnie Greene, Ruby Coffey, Ola Mae Hamby, and Ethel Deal; and one brother, Odell Greene.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Hamby and R.J. Hamby, both of Ferguson; one grandchild, Hannah Hamby; and one great-grandchild, Jasper Hamby; and three sisters, Dolly Lutz and husband, Jim, of Granite Falls, Dorothy Marley of Hickory, and Pearl Knipe of Conover.
