Annie Lee (Anderson) Barnette

Mrs. Annie Lee Anderson Barnette, age 95, of Millers Creek, widow of James Hobert Barnette, died Friday, September 30, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist – Wilkes Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 3. 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church on Brushy Mountain with Rev. Kerry Nichols officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service. 

 Mrs. Barnette was born July 22, 1927 in Wilkes County to Coy and Kate Gentle Anderson. She was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church.  She loved flowers and gardening and always had a green thumb. She had a heart for helping people in need and loved her family and grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Hobert Barnette; one son, Roger Wayne Barnette; three sisters, Francis Clure, Dorthy Minton, Mary Jennings; and four brothers, Reed Anderson, Frank Anderson, Bobby Anderson, and Joe Anderson.

 She is survived by two sons, Mike Barnette and wife, Linda, and James H. Barnette, Jr., all of Millers Creek; two grandsons, Chris Barnette and wife, Amy Hilton, and Michael Brandon; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher J. Barnette, Emilee R. Barnette, and Hailey Hartley; and one sister, Lillie Dean Kilby of Millers Creek. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society-Relay for Life, P.O. Box 9, North Wilkesboro NC 28659.
