Mrs. Anne Graham Miller was born November 21, 1923 in Jasper, TN, the daughter of the late Margaret Cobb and James Eddie Graham. She passed away Friday, October, 15, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl A. Ricker, and her second husband, Ed Miller; her sister, Helen and husband, Dr. Bill Marshall of Atlanta; and a brother, Hal Graham of Chattanooga.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Ricker of Hollywood, FL; a brother, Ralph Graham of Atlanta; a stepdaughter, Denise White and husband, Jim of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kyle Cordon, Carol Heath, Katie Francis and husband, Brandon; two step grandchildren, Brandon White and wife, Ashley, Jamie Sowers and husband, Dr. Ryan Sowers, and twelve great grandchildren.
Mrs. Miller was an active member of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary education society of women. She received a B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee, a Master’s Degree from Barry University, and continued her education with a grant from the National Science Foundation at the University of Florida. She worked in chemistry at Oak Ridge, TN when the atomic bomb was being developed.
Anne retired from Broward County, FL school system where she worked as a science teacher then an administrator for 32 years. The Millers moved to Wilkes County and developed Dena Apple Orchard, but returned to their Florida home for the winter months. Anne was active in many areas at different times including her music, china painting, knitting, flowers, gardening, tennis, and swimming. She and her husband enjoyed extensive international travels. Her greatest interest was her family. Her grandchildren loved their summers on the farm with “Gram and Dee”, such great memories.
Burial will be a private graveside service at Mt. Pleasant Church in Boonville, NC with Rev. Steve Snipes.
