Obituary for Mabel Ruth Calloway

Ms. Mabel Ruth Calloway age 74 of Wilkesboro, passed away March 13th, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Rose Glen Village,
Ms. Calloway was born March 31, 1943 in Wilkes County to Clara Colvard and W.R. (Bob) Calloway. A graduate of Appalachian State University with BA and MA degrees in library science, she served as a school media specialist in North Carolina and Florida. After her retirement from teaching, she returned to Wilkes to live near her family. As a resident and volunteer librarian of Rose Glen Village, she continued to share her life-long love of books with the many good friends that she made there.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Sam Colvard Calloway.
Ms. Calloway is survived by her sisters, Bobbie Calloway and Mary Spears; three nephews; two great-nephews and three great-nieces; and her beloved Coco. Throughout her life, Mabel was a loving and loved daughter, sister, and aunt. Her generous spirit and vibrant nature will be missed by her family and her many friends.
