Master Sergeant Ralph Lee Johnson, Sr. age 82 of Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn Officiating. Burial with Air Force Honors will be in Mt. Paran cemetery in Deep Gap, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson was born October 9, 1936 in Wilkes County to Jessie Fred "Baxter" Johnson and Emma Lou Greene Johnson. He served for 22 years in the Air Force prior to retiring. Ralph owned and operated Johnson Citgo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Kay Elmore Johnson, a brother; Roy Johnson and a granddaughter; Kayla Johnson.
He is survived by a daughter; Susan Johnson of Wilkesboro, two sons; Ralph Lee Johnson, Jr. of Wilkesboro and Frank Johnson and wife Sandra of Traphill, three grandchildren; Samantha Billings and husband Jeremy of Wilkesboro, Doug Johnson and wife Pam of Millers Creek and Jennifer Teague and husband Josh of Boone, two great grandchildren; Madison Billings and Eli Billings, six sisters; Edna Hamby of Lenoir, Shirley Palmer of Roaring River, Ettie Ferree of Millers Creek, Coleen Kerr and husband Don of Flat Rock, Brenda Triplett and husband Barry of Wilkesboro and Darlene Dula and husband Roger of Lenoir and one brother Roger Johnson and wife Ola of Moravian Falls.
