MR. HOKE MCNEIL Mr. Edgon Hoke McNeil, age 92, of Wilkesboro died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4, at 1:00 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Prayer Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 and Masonic Rites by Mt. Pleasant Lodge #483 will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Prayer Chapel from 11:30 until 1:00 prior to the service. Mr. McNeil was born in Wilkes County, on December 29, 1919, to James Carey and Bessie Cornelia Fairchild McNeil. He was a member and deacon emetrius of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Mr. McNeil served in the US Army in Patton's 3rd Army 12th Corps during World War II. He was a 60 year mason and a long time member of West Wilkes Water Association Board of Directors. He was also a member of Clan McNeil Association. In addition to his parents and his wife, Nancy Beatrice McNeil, Mr. McNeil was preceded in death by a great grandson, Seth Teague; four sisters, Marie Hendrix, Opal McLain, Reba Smith, Rena Spicer. Mr. McNeil is survived by one daughter, Patricia Norman and husband, John of Millers Creek; one son, Donald McNeil and wife, Karen of Wilkesboro; one brother, Hoyle McNeil and wife, Alda of Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Jeanie Norman, Jodi Townsell, Jonathan Norman, Joshua McNeil, Jennifer Marlow, Julie McClanahan; nine great grandchildren, Dustan Teague, Makayla Norman, Jessika Norman, Sophia Norman, Grayson Townsell, Kaylee McNeil, Karey McNeil, Guenevere Marlow, Coda McClanahan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund, 239 Champion Mt Pleasant Road, Wilkesboro, NC 28697 or to Mtn. Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
