Mr. Gordon Javon Church, age 83, of Congo Road, Wilkesboro died Saturday, June 21, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2:00 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Hall, the Rev. Fellman Cheek, and the Rev. Buddy Laws officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Entombment with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. Church was born in Wilkes County, November 24, 1924, to Worth and Daisy Higgins Church. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Church retired from Lowe's Hardware. He served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II.
Mr. Church is survived by his wife, Ruth Pardue Church of the home; one daughter, Pearl Osborne and husband, Bill of Wilkesboro; one son, Ronnie Church and wife, Ann of Millers Creek; six grandchildren, Amanda Church-Miller, Sonya Church, Michael Church, Breta Brown, David Osborne, Billy Osborne; four great grandchildren.
The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday night.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
