Mr. Danny Franklin Waugh, Sr., age 80, of North Wilkesboro died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at his home.
A graveside service with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will be held 1:00, Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Mountlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Watts and the Rev. Elton Hart officiating. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday night.
Mr. Waugh was born in Wilkes County, on December 25, 1932, to Benjamin and Daisy Smith Waugh. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Waugh was the owner and operator of Danny's Barber Shop for over 40 years before retiring. He was a Sunday school teacher at Chapel Hill AME Zion Church for several years. Mr. Waugh also helped coach Little League and adult league Baseball Teams.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Waugh was preceded in death by five sisters, Ella Ruth Waugh-Brown, Rebecca Waugh Ford-Daye, Violet Waugh Roberts, Charliene Waugh Bynum and Martinez Waugh Ferguson; and three brothers, Bruce Waugh, Baxter (Sonny) Waugh and Kent M. Waugh.
Mr. Waugh is survived by his wife, Joan Leysath Waugh of the home; two daughters, Yma Waugh (Johnny) of Atlanta, GA and Felicia Waugh of Durham; three sons, Dennis Miller (Monica) of Detroit, MI, Danny Waugh, Jr. (Paula) of Evans, GA, Scott Waugh (Misty) of North Wilkesboro; three grandchildren, Daniel Waugh, Jayla Waugh, Amani Adams; two sisters, Betsy Waugh Carver of North Wilkesboro and Martha Waugh Barnes (Russell) of North Wilkesboro; one brother, Dudley Waugh (Lona) of North Wilkesboro and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
