Obituary for Larry Clate Miller

Mr. Larry Clate Miller, age 89 of North Wilkesboro passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 7, 2017 at Hinshaw Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Collins and Pastor Jim Gore officiating. Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Miller was born January 19, 1928 in Wilkes County to Mont Eber and Carrie Phillips Miller. He was a retired North Wilkesboro mail carrier. He joined Hinshaw Baptist Church in 1941, he was a choir leader, soloist, Deacon Emeritus, and Sunday School Teacher. He also sang in The Harmonizer’s quartet the 60’s. He served four years in the United States Air Force in Morocco, North Africa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Jean Latting, Ruth Ford, Grace Dancy and Joyce Caudill and four brothers; Claude Miller, Rev. Ralph Miller, Bruce Miller and Rudd Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years; Nancy Grace Hayes Miller and several nieces and nephews.
