Obituary for James "Carl" Triplett

Mr. James Carl Triplett, age 87 of Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Mr. Triplett was born December 28, 1930 in Wilkes County to Dana and Mary Jane Johnson Triplett. He was a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church. Carl and Ruby moved to Wilkesboro in 1959 and visited Wilkesboro Baptist Church. Rev. Henry Morgan, the Pastor at that time visited with Carl and Ruby. They fell in love with him, immediately began attending the church, where they remained faithful members. Carl served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. After coming home from service, he attended Clevenger College and later started his career in hosiery textiles management at Hanes, Buster Brown and Ithaca. Carl served as President of the Civitan Club for several years. During this time serving as a Deacon at Wilkesboro Baptist Church, Carl served on the Personnel, Nominating and Building Committees. On January 15, 2012, Carl was presented as a Deacon Emeritus. Carl truly loved Wilkesboro Baptist Church and the people there.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Jesse Triplett, Warren Triplett and Benny Triplett and a sister; Edith Edmiston.
He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Ruby Ann Riggs Triplett of the home, three daughters; Carlla Triplett Wingler and husband Eugene of Purlear, Angela Triplett Powell of Wilkesboro, Wendy Triplett Eller of Wilkesboro, a son; William “Willie” Triplett of Wilkesboro, two grandchildren; Heather Leigh Powell and Lance Howard Wingler and wife Michelle, two great grandchildren; Annabelle Brooke Potts and Bailey Grace Wingler, three sisters; Louise Pierce and husband Harold of Greensboro, Linda Wingler and husband Oscar of Ferguson, Carolyn Hall and husband Paul of Ferguson, two brothers; Gene Triplett and wife Mary Ellen of Ferguson and Clint Triplett and Angie of Ferguson.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Hefner and Rev. Alfred E. Andrews, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service in the sanctuary.
