Obituary for C.K. Smith

Mr. Clarence Kenneth Smith better known as C.K., passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Wilkes Senior Village.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 at North Wilkesboro United Methodist Church with Dr. Terry Matthews officiating. Entombment will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:15 prior to the service in the Faith Center.
Mr. Smith was born October 7, 1926 in Lincoln County to Bessie Lee Smith. C.K. served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 1142 where he had served as Commander. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and was a member of the Mulberry Fairplains Ruritan Club. He was a member of North Wilkesboro United Methodist Church where he was President of the Methodist Men Bible class, served as Usher Captain for over 25 years, served on the Board of Trustees for many years as well as serving as Chairman of the Grounds Committee. C.K. went on 14 mission trips to West Virginia and on 12 mission trips to Mexico. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation with for over 39 years of service, where he held the position of Resident Engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; Lois Hayes Smith Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter; Jane Glass and husband Chris of Jefferson, a son; Kenneth Smith of Cary, five grandchildren; Anna Glass, Bryan Smith, Scott Smith, Brad Smith and Joel Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity 320 Cothren Street, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
